The Country. . .
Ecuador is a South American gem that remains culturally un-spoiled from the chaos of life that haunts other parts of the world. Abundant in beauty and rich in history this small yet intriguing nation continues to amaze visitors. From the vast jungles of the Amazon basin, inland to the high majestic peaks of the Andes Mountains to the western lowlands and on to the beaches of the Pacific Ocean. There are not many countries that can claim such an array of climates & temperatures, the numbers of wildlife species and the friendliness of their people.
Ecuador was named from its position straddling the equator of the Earth. Though many people think this would make for a very hot and humid climate, this is far from reality in most cases. Because Ecuador has the Andes running through the country, the elevation varies a greatly and plays a great deal on the temperature. The country is made up of many micro-climates depending on location. Quito the capitol of Ecuador sits at about 9300 feet and has an average temperature of 65F. On the coast (where we live part time) in Crucita, the average temperature is 82F and is arid without much humidity. Crucita is called “The Village of Perpetual Summer”. The Oriente area (the jungle area east of the Andes) is usually quite hot and humid as you would expect in the jungle areas, however the weather can change just by driving a few kilometers in any direction through out the rest of the country.
Ecuador is rich in local Indian and Spanish history.
There are many local indigenous tribal markets for shopping with exquisite handcrafted items to be found such as hand woven blankets from Lama, Sheep and Alpaca
or genuine Panama hats. If you have not been to Ecuador you are missing a “Must See”.
If you have already been here… you know the beauty and heart of this un-discovered country.
Please come learn what Ecuador can offer you…
A lifetime of memories.
